FIFA, Qatar finally make decision on alcohol sales at World Cup

Since 1998, constraints have been applied to the draw to ensure that no group contains more than two European teams or more than one team from any other confederation. World Cup winners retain the trophy only until the post-match celebration is finished. They are awarded a gold-plated replica rather than the solid gold original immediately afterwards. But Qatar 2022 chief executive Nasser Al Khater has urged fans to consume alcohol in the specific areas that have been given permission to serve drinks. All FIFA member associations, of which there are currently 211, were eligible to enter qualification. However, the AFC obliged Qatar to participate in the Asian qualifying stage as the first two rounds also act as qualification for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. Since Qatar reached the final stage as winners in their group, Lebanon, the fifth-best second place team, advanced instead.
